[NEWS] 120730 AJ to pursue his education at Columbia University and halt his activities in U-KISS for the time being

As many of you know, U-KISS‘s AJ was previously accepted into the prestigious Columbia Universityin New York. Well it seems he will be putting his music career on hold and will pursue his education for the time being.

The announcement was made by AJ himself at the “U-KISS 1st JAPAN LIVE TOUR 2012” on July 29th. In addition, U-KISS’ agency NH Media left an official notice on their website: “We previously stated that AJ was admitted into Columbia University in the United States. AJ will be temporarily leaving the group to study in the United States and the concert in Japan this month will be his last activity with the group.”

NH Media also added, “The withdrawal doesn’t mean he will be permanently leaving the group. He will be in the United States for five months to pursue his education and he plans to rejoin the group some time early next year. He cannot finish up his activities in Korea but he must enroll in school after the groups promotions in Japan ends. We are sorry to say that parting greetings won’t be made in Korea. Though it is expected that parting greetings should be made during Korean promotions, his enrollment period has overlapped with the end of Japanese promotions. AJ will not be with the U-KISS members for the time being but please continue to cheer for him until he returns after he completes his studies early next year.”

AJ had previously prepared for college entrance by taking the SATs and achieved a perfect score on the Subject Tests and a high score on the Reasoning Test. With the help of these scores, AJ was able to gain admission into Columbia University, which is famous for having many U.S. Presidents among its alumni. ‘I Am A Singer’ star Park Jung Hyun has also graduated from Columbia in the past.

[NEWS] 120729 Member AJ to attend Columbia University this August

An announcement was made on July 29th at the end of U-KISS 1st JAPAN LIVE TOUR 2012「A Shared Dream」～Special Edition～ that in order to concentrate on his studies at Columbia University, member AJ will be inactive in U-KISS. He will be inactive for 5 months starting from August.

His final performance is scheduled to be at a-nation stadium fes. Charge Go! ウイダーinゼリー on August 26th. He will unfortunately not be able to attend U-KISS LIVE IN BUDOKAN.

To the fans who had been looking forward to AJ’s appearance, he and the staff sincerely apologize.

Good luck to AJ in Columbia!

[NEWS] 120727 U-Kiss looking to make Korean comeback in mid-September

After a successful comeback earlier this year with "DORADORA" and "Believe," from their special mini-album to KISSMEs, U-Kiss is looking to make another comeback this year in mid-September.

An official at NH Media said, "The members have been working on a new album which we are aiming to drop around mid-September."

However, no further details regarding a concept or the format of the album was revealed. The official said that teasers and hints will be released as the comeback date nears closer.

Currently, U-Kiss is promoting in Japan, having released their latest single, "Dear My Friend," ranking 5th in the daily Oricon Chart. They are also on their 25-day Japan tour, "A Shared Dream," which kick started on July 5th

[NEWS] 120726 U-KISS Japanese Concert Tour Tickets All Sold Out

U-KISS has become the new rising Hallyu figure in Japan. U-KISS started their first series of concert tour in Japan in the beginning of July. During the tour, they have visited eight cities so far and have sold out all the tickets, which adds up to approximately 80,000 tickets. Moreover, all of U-KISS’s Japanese albums are ranked highly on Oricon charts.

Through their Japanese concert tour and album promotions, U-KISS have definitely raised their profile as the next big Hallyu idols, following the footsteps of DBSK. U-KISS have performed 16 times throughout July and will be having a grand finale in Tokyo at NHK hall on July 28 and 29. They will also be releasing the third Japanese single “Dear My Friend” on July 25.

On September 5, U-KISS will be performing at the Budokan, the dream stage of Japanese artists, and officially wrap up their Japanese promotion. They will return to Korea after the Budokan concert to focus on a new album promotion in Korea in mid-September.

[NEWS] 120726 U-Kiss holds successful fan meet in Kawasaki after new single release

It was a big week for U-Kiss as they not only released their new Japanese single, "Dear My Friend," but also held a very successful fan meet with over 8,000 people.

The fan meet was held in celebration of this release. Held in Lazona in Kawasaki, the event was a huge success as the crowd of 8,000 gathered at the venue at the crack of dawn to wait for U-Kiss. For this event, U-Kiss held a special Q&A corner. After the fun times, the group took the stage and performed their song "Dear My Friend," the ending song for the anime "Arashi no yoru ni~Himitsu no tomodachi," as well as their second single, "Forbidden Love." Their performances were high energy and intense. At the end of the day, there were about 6,500 fans who attended the high touch event to create summer memories with U-Kiss.

Soohyun said, "Even though the weather was bad, seeing so many fans here for us really moved me. As a group, U-KISS hopes to always be close to our fans. Being able to partake in such an event really makes me happy. Next week, we will be continuing with our promotions in Sapporo, Niigata, and NHK Hall in Tokyo. I can't wait to see you all again. Thank you, as always!"

U-KISS's activities in Japan will not be over for quite a while, as they are slated to release their fourth Japanese single,"One of You," in September.
